About Me

If you’ve glanced around my blog, you’ve probably noticed that I am a fairly prolific writer of fiction (and, when the mood strikes, poetry) across a wide range of genres. Though Sci-fi and Fantasy are my bread and butter, I like to experiment with other genres and styles. I’m always up for a challenge, and enjoy being pushed outside my comfort zone where writing is concerned. My list of favourite authors is topped by Philip K. Dick, Terry Pratchett and Jules Verne. I’m not very good at referring to myself in the third person in bios.

As well as writing, I hold down a full-time job in education, and enjoy more hobbies and interests than I can shake a space-stick at. These include horse riding, walking with my dogs, and getting out on my Kawasaki. I also play the saxophone and clarinet, and own various other instruments which I plan on one day learning to wield as deadly weapons of music. I hold a 4th Dan grade in the traditional Japanese art of Iaido, and in my spare time enjoy baking healthy, delicious home-made dog-cookies for my hounds.

I have a quirky sense of humour, for which I make no apologies.

  1. Hi there! I’m a huge fan of your writing, and I was telling a friend about you, when I realized I didn’t know your pronouns. I don’t think I saw any anywhere on your site or ff.net account. Do you use they/them, she/her, he/him, or something else? Thanks!

  3. Great bio! I prefer my beaches not to be fluffy, personally, but we can agree to disagree. Btw, what does the Intergalactic Treatise say about probing Superior Lifeforms?

  4. Hahaha your About page is one of my favorites that I’ve ever read and I’ve read a lot xD. A pleasure to meet your cyber-acquaintance, Urban Spaceman.

    • Thank you, human female! I enjoyed your about-me page too. NYC sounds like an interesting place to study human beings, and I’m sure I’ll visit there one day. I too have a fangirl living inside of me; I let her out once a week for cookies and icecream, but it’s not as twisted as it sounds. I’ve stalked you over on ff.net so if you ever decide to let yours out again, maybe they can play together!

      • LOL! You’re hilarious! If you ever do find yourself in my neck of the woods er city, I wish you well. We have horrible MTA service, god help you if you stop in the middle of a busy block to take pictures of everything in Times Sq like a TOURIST *shudders*, and so much culture, diversity, vibrancy, and inspiration for life that you just might never leave. I know I haven’t yet.

P.S. Fangirl play dates sound like fun! I’ve been working on my fanfiction, so I don’t think it’ll be long before we can break out those cookies and ice cream 😀
